WORLDBUILD WITH ME is Gardner’s entry into video collage, expressing a curatorial approach to gathering and arranging movement, sounds, textures, and images that articulate his interest in unrefined joy. Gardner began working on WORLDBUILD WITH ME in hopes of submitting the work to a dance music festival, but it took a different shape after the uprisings and protests began in June 2020. Drawing among everything from Blaxploitation movies to iconic clips from balls, Gardner has assembled found footage and self-shot video in order to build an Afrofuturist invitation into his world.” - Ella Ray
